What ECX is
ECX — short for English Connect X — is the biggest and busiest English Corner in Kunming. Founded by two foreigners (Dioni and her American friend :), we started ECX because we wanted to build a community that we wished existed:
For the local friends: An English speaking environment that is welcoming and inclusive
For the international friends: A space to connect with the people in this country and city we came to love
And most importantly: Where you can find your people, your tribes, and a place to belong
Every meeting we pick a topic and come up with a list of questions as conversation starters. No need to be "good enough" — just show up as you are. No pressure, no test. We're just a bunch of language lovers hanging out. You'll fit right in. 🥰

It's one of the easiest ways to meet locals who speak English. And honestly, we love having travellers in the room. You bring stories none of us have heard. 😉
Fair warning: we fill up. As the city's busiest English Corner we often hit capacity, but we try to squeeze in a few visitors who are only around for a short while. Message us as soon as possible and we'll do our best to save you a seat.
