What we're working on next
Our Original Kunming walking tour took four months of before we deemed it ready. These three are somewhere in that process now.
None of them runs on a schedule yet, and we are publishing them early to give you an idea for what we're working on next.

Kunming Food Tour
Status: Out researching (eating) most weeks
This is probably the one that people search the most. Who doesn't like a food tour? A lot of food in Kunming are not actually from Kunming, but from other places in Yunnan. This makes it both slightly trickier and interesting, because you won't have time to go to everywhere in Yunnan, so Kunming is the best place to catch them all. (or a lot of them)
We're still shaping this into a proper food tour. Likely three hours from around six in the evening through a local night market, with enough food that you would not want a 'proper dinner'. If you like the idea of having a local foodie taking you around and explaining to you what is what, while chatting about life and food in general, this could be for you.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Status: Written up. Working out the route.
A consultation at the local Chinese medicine clinic — a beautiful old building at the old town centre costs around ¥20 and takes about an hour. Almost no visitor ever uses it, because nothing in the building is in English and nobody at the desk speaks it. It is simply not foreigners friendly.
That gap is what this is aimed at. A local friend would take you, queue with you, interpret the consultation, and explain afterwards what was being discussed and why. Next we can also recommend places nearby if you want to try accupuncture, moxibustion, or other treatments.
We are guides and interpreters here rather than practitioners, and nothing we offer is medical advice or treatment. Truth is a serious TCM treatment takes a while, often weeks, for it to take effect. Consider this experience a TCM taster rather than a full blown medical treatment.
Learn How to Play Mahjong
Status: Gathering the ayi (local aunties) to play mahjong with foreigners
Have you always wanted to learn how to play mahjong but never got a chance to? Do you dream of playing mahjong at the local mahjong parlour in China where no foreigner ever steps into?
If that sounds intriguing to you, contact us. Our friends are mahjong experts. We can teach you how to play. There are many versions of mahjong. Everyone in Kunming plays the Sichuan mahjong, which is one of the easiest versions to learn, and certainly not any less authentic.
Two hours of mahjong at the local parlour with tea and fruits, just the way the locals do it. It doesn't matter how many people you have, we'll get 4 people to play.
Coming to Kunming?
Early runs are small, quite possibly just you, and the projects will not be polished. But you'll get our full attention. Like a secret project, just between us.
Cancellation Policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If the tour is cancelled by us due to weather or other circumstances, you will receive a full refund.
